The Christ Experience: Walking the Road to Emmaus

Intermediate Mondays & Thursdays

Hearts that burned along the road. Two disillusioned travellers leave Jerusalem convinced the story is over — and a stranger falls in step beside them. This study walks the Emmaus road slowly: through disappointment, through Scripture opened up, to the moment of recognition in the breaking of bread.

What You Will Learn

  • The Emmaus narrative (Luke 24) in depth — its setting, movement, and meaning
  • How to process disappointment with God honestly, the way the two travellers did aloud
  • How Jesus interprets "Moses and all the Prophets" — the whole Old Testament pointing to Himself
  • Why recognition came at the table, and what that says about ordinary hospitality as sacred space

What You Will Walk Away With

  • A framework for the seasons when God feels absent — and the discovery that He may be walking closest then
  • A burning-heart way of reading Scripture: not for information, but for encounter
  • The travellers' turnaround: from walking away in despair to running back with news worth telling

Who It Is For

Learners carrying disappointment — with circumstances, with others, or with God — who are willing to keep walking and talking honestly.
