However yesterday ended, this morning is not made of it. Mercy is not a reward you earn by getting everything right; it is set down fresh, before you have done anything at all.
Whatever you are carrying into today, you do not have to carry it perfectly. You are met with a kindness that does not run out.
A prayer
Thank you that your mercy is new this morning. Help me to begin again, gently, and to trust that I am not alone in it.
Today is not made of yesterday — mercy meets you new this morning.
