Into A Broad Place

Today’s Scripture Psalm 18:19 (ESV)

“He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.”

Psalm 18:19 (ESV)

Going deeper

Perhaps you know the feeling of being hemmed in. The walls close. The choices narrow. Life shrinks to a corridor where you shuffle from one worry to the next, and you cannot remember when you last drew a full breath.

This old song remembers something different. It speaks of being brought out — into a broad place, where the sky is wide and there is room to stand. And notice the reason given: not because the writer earned it, not because he had it all together, but because he was delighted in. You are not rescued as a chore. You are wanted.

Whatever narrow place you woke in this morning, hold this quietly. The room you are in now is not the last room. There is space ahead that you have not seen yet — and you are moved toward it by someone who is glad you exist. Take one true step today. The broad place is real.

A prayer

God who makes room, thank you that I am not forgotten in this tight place. Bring me out into wider ground, at whatever pace I can bear. Help me trust that I am wanted, not merely tolerated.

Carry this with you

You are being led toward wider ground, and you are delighted in along the way.

Soli Deo Gloria — to God alone be the glory.
